This hike began at State Line Lookout on the Upper Palisades Trail, Alpine, NJ. We headed onto the trail at about 7:00am, just as the sun was rising. The weather was cold and partly cloudy, but once we got moving, we were all warm enough. The trail follows the top of the Palisades and we had some amazing views of the mighty Hudson and the shore of Yonkers, the Bronx and Manhattan. Once we reached the bottom of this trail we stopped for lunch and Ellen left the hike. Then on to the GWB. We crossed the mile span and turned north, picking up the Upper Manhattan Trail through Fort Tryon Park. Then we followed Broadway to 231st Street and turned again heading north onto Riverdale Avenue to the Church.
