John McLoughlin is a member of Santa Fe Trail Council B.S.A. #194, and has been involved as an adult in Scouting for over 35 years, serving in every capacity in a Troop including Scoutmaster for over 10 years.

He worked as District Commissioner and received the District Award of Merit in 1976 after serving in several other positions at the District level, and has been involved at the Council level over 25 years serving in many capacities on the Board including Camping Chmn., for 8 years, Council Commissioner for 7 years., and Council President for 2 years.

John has had much involvement and shown leadership above the Council level which made him an extremely strong candidate for the Silver Antelope Award. He has serves with distinction as a Camp visitation Specialist for 31 years, and has been a Team Captain for over 15 years. John received his Wood Badge Beads in 1974 and since served on 14 staffs, in every capacity, including Course Director. (These were all cluster courses with 3 other Councils.) John was a sub camp Dining Officer at the 1989 National Jamboree. John currently is on the Central Region Executive Board and served as the first Area 5 Commissioner in his 4th year. He also is a member of the National Jewish Committee for Scouting, serving over 15 years.

Among other things, John McLoughlin is a James E. West Fellow, holder of the Whitney M. Young Award, and recipient of the Distinguished Council Commissioner Beyond Scouting Award. John is an extraordinary Scouter and community leader.
