It was a very cold day at Van Cortlandt Park. At first, there weren't that many people at the Veterans Memorial Garden, but that changed. We began to practice what we had to do, and Luke P. was chosen to put the 30 Veteran Flags into the ground. The ROTC was also there to commemorate the Veterans. Some mothers of veterans came to speak about their feelings and the Veterans Garden. When all the speeches were done, the Garden was dedicated to the lost veterans. It was sad that many people did not know that this Veteran Memorial Garden existed with it's monument stones that are a memorial and inspiration for many. -- James N., Troop Scribe (with Mary Ellen Willen).
