| This was the celebration of Troop 240's 44th National Eagle Court of Honor. This year, the Troop 240 Eagle Dinner took place at Manhattan College. There were about 150 people attending to honor our two new Eagle Scouts, Kevin B. (#115), and Martin Boyle. (#116). The hall was very nice and was a lot bigger than our previous one at Mount Saint Vincent. Manhattan College was easily accessible, and inside was a lot more comfortable. We began the celebration with a Scout Prayer, and introduced the Eagle Candidates, their Escorts, and the rest of our Troop. As everyone entered the hall there was a guest sign-in book, and both Kevin and Martin's binder that kept everything that they received since their first Scouting year. The Eagle Escorts were Eagle Scout # 93, Philip Brady, for Kevin B. and Eagle Scout #113, Connor McGrath, for Martin Boyle. Our Troop Charter was presented to Mr. Frank Master, our Charter Organization Representative by Donald G. Thomas, Bronx Borough Scout Executive. Executive Thomas announced that our Scoutmaster Joe Acquafredda would also be working for the Bronx Council as Training Chairman. At the National Eagle Court of Honor, Matt Aronberg, Eagle Scout #108, gave the Eagle Life speech for Eagle Candidate Kevin B. as pictures of his scouting life were projected on the screen. Adam Aronberg did this for Eagle Candidate Martin Boyle as his Scouting Life was shown. Matt Aronberg also advanced to Assistant Scoutmaster. Also, during the dinner, three new Scouts -- Jay P., Keenan C-T., and Luke P. -- were acknowledged for advancing to the rank of Tenderfoot. Michael H. was given the Scout Of The Year Award ... Michael S. was awarded the Good Scout award, ... and Martin Boyle earned the Fred Jerecki Award for community service hours. Assistant Scoutmaster Jim Dell was awarded a plaque honoring 25 years of spectacular service to Troop 240. Connor McGrath received a personal award from Scoutmaster Joe Acquafredda for his outstanding job as Senior Patrol Leader. Webmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Al Willen also received Scoutmaster Joe's personal award for the thousands of hours he has put into Troop 240's exceptional Web Site. Several Committee members received certificates for completing the Troop Committee Challenge training given by our Membership Chairperson Mary Ellen Willen. Scout Charles C. won the raffle and received $200 cash. He was a real happy camper! We all had a good and meaningful time. -- James N., Troop Scribe. |
