| Over 45 members of Troop 240 joined together for our Annual Picnic. Each family brought a dish along with family members and friends. Before eating, the Scouts opened all the Troop's tents so that they could be seamed sealed. Also the tents were inspected for our first overnight on September 16, 2006. The wind picked up and some of the tents began rolling around like soccer balls on a field. Michael For., & Russell L. saved the day and caught them all. After that, we ate. We had everything from KFC, macaroni salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, roast beef, and rice & beans. For desert we had lemon crunch cake, chocolate cake, donuts, marvelous fudge brownies, cookies, cobbler, cheese cake and much, much more! As always Edna Acquafredda and Eva Stratford were all over the site, overseeing everything including helping my mom, who is disabled. Some parents don't even recall sitting down to take a break. My question is did they even get time to eat? At least 4 potential new Scouts also attended. We played a game of soccer, then a game of football. The football game was crazy because the adults decided to join in. Ed Lowe & Rick Zeidler ran around in their flip flops. Meanwhile Justin Andreadis was having his Life BOR. He had to wear his Class A uniform but soon changed into more appropriate clothes. Then the 3 new potential Eagle candidates had a meeting with the leaders about their candidacies. Later on in the day, it got windy and chilly so that some people stood by the grills to keep warm. (They weren't prepared for a change in the weather.) Andy Stratford and Bill Tauber took the pictures in this photo gallery. This was a very nice event with everyone enjoying themselves. We all know that our SPL was the one that made sure that everything got done correctly. We also owe a thanks to the other youth leaders for their work. A special thanks has to go to the camp ranger for allowing us to keep necessary vehicles by the picnic site for those in the Troop who are handicapped. That was very a nice and deeply appreciated deed. It made it so much easier for us to get into and out of the picnic area. -- James N., Troop Scribe. |
