Trail to Eagle - 2002 

Troop 240 has a history of Eagle Scouts dating as far back as 1929. Here are the two scouts who completed their requirements and Board of Review in 2002 to join the Troop 240 Eagle Nest.

The 2002 Eagle Scouts

        Position: Senior Patrol Leader
    David joined Troop 240 in November of 1997. He was inducted into the Troop on December 12, 1997. He became a Tenderfoot Scout on April 3, 1998, a Second Class Scout on February 6,1999, a First Class Scout on March 26, 1999, a Star Scout on August 24,1999 and a Life Scout on February 5, 2000. David has held the following Troop positions: QM, APL, PL and ASPL for Programming. David became Senior Patrol Leader on June 1, 2001. David has 26 merit badges. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, Ranachqua Lodge. David was home schooled until high school and has a two-third’s scholarship to his high school. He belongs to the following organizations: Junior ROTC Drill Team the debate team and  the chess club at his high school. He is also a tutor and has been an altar server for 5 years at his church. His favorite sports are baseball, tennis, golf and swimming. He wants to become a civil engineer and is looking at these colleges: Pratt Institute and NYU. He was a member of council’s JLT course in 1999. His most challenging experience in Scouting so far was the Lifesaving merit badge.
    Update: David is now an Assistant Scoutmaster on college leave, attending Dartmouth College where he majors in Physics.

         Age: 15

         Position: Patrol Leader
    Chris became a member of Troop 240 in September of 1998. He was inducted into the Troop on October 10, 1998. He became a Tenderfoot Scout on February 12, 1999, Second Class on March 26, 1999, First Class on October 8, 1999, Star on February 9, 2001 and a Life Scout on August 21, 2001. He has served as a Den Chief and an Assistant Patrol Leader. Chris became a Patrol Leader on June 1, 2001. Chris has taken Den Chief training and the council’s JLT course in 2000. Chris has 23 merit badges. He is a Brotherhood member of Ranachqua Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. He has been an altar server at his church for 3 years. His favorite sports are baseball and basketball. His hobbies are music, video games and computers. He is also a member of the local community center where he has acted in 3 stage plays. Chris’ most challenging experience in Scouting is leading and being responsible for his patrol, The Wolverines. His fondest memory is attending Space Camp in 1999. He wants to become a songwriter or the CEO of his own record company.
    Update: Chris is now an Assistant Scoutmaster on college leave, attending Five Towns College, a small private institution specializing in the entertainment industry.
